About Me

I started this page because there is a need.  Puppy and dog classes can not only be expensive but also time consuming, both of which the consumer may not have either of to spare.  This site will allow you to try some modification plans in the privacy of your own home at your own speed. Though nothing can take the place of  a dog class for  socialization which is vital to a dog, this site will allow you to at least start on some behavior modification so that eventually your dog will be ready for a normal dog class.  Many dog classes will not accept aggressive dogs.  Dogs act aggressively for different reasons and I am here ot help you figure out what type of aggression  you are dealing with and how to change it.  If I feel I cannot help you I will let you know. Please know that I am blunt when it comes to asking the owner to do the right thing by the dog which the owner may or may not want to hear.   Everything is kept private between our email exchanges unless you would like to post a testimonial from you.

Below you will see my credentials:

I have been a dog trainer/observer of behavior for twenty five years. I have owned and bred Newfoundland dogs, but my experience is with many different breeds and sizes from the Cocker Spaniel to the Newfoundland / St Bernard breeds.  Running a multiple dog household with 7 dogs at one time is not unusual for me.

Because of my desire to help both humans and dogs I began my journey toward Therapy Dog work and eventually became a Therapy Dog Evaluator for one of the oldest organizations in the US.  From there I also became an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. I have had three Newfoundland’s become therapy dogs and together they aided in the mental stimulation of many in hospitals, nursing homes, schools, day care centers, prison and more.

I am currently on line as a paid expert on a popular and well established question and answer site where I aide with dog behavior on a daily basis. If you prefer to reach me through this  avenue  to help you,  you will find my question box here.   You can also see some of my  dog behavior advice on this page as well.

I have been a member/trainer of a well established large dog club in Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna Valley.

I am a member and a shelter coordinator of the Pennsylvania State Animal Response Team for two local counties. My two Newfoundland’s Chance and Steeler were our county mascots until they crossed over the rainbow bridge.  You will see them in action on the video on my home page.

I am the author of three books; two being dog related.  "Chance, Davy and the Hurricane"  is  for children and it tells children how to put an emergency disaster suitcase together for their pets and my book "Turn Your Dog into a Therapy Dog" can be a guide for adults or teens to get them started in the field of therapy dog work.

As well I have written articles for a former local paper on dog training and an article on preparing your pets for disaster on a popular dog/pet website which you can read here.
